DOJ hits Apple with an antitrust lawsuit

Apple is facing a US antitrust lawsuit alleging that it has maintained a smartphone monopoly by impeding competition through tactics such as hindering rivals’ products while not necessarily enhancing its own. The lawsuit, filed by the Department of Justice and 16 state attorneys general, accuses Apple of restricting competition in the smartphone market by delaying, degrading, or blocking other technologies.

The DOJ accuses Apple of dominating the smartphone market, some of their “alleged” tactics are:

Hindering the development of cloud-streaming apps and services, limiting consumer access to high-quality video games and other cloud-based applications.

Degrading the quality of cross-platform messaging with rivals like Android, impeding seamless communication.

Apple responded, “This lawsuit threatens who we are and the principles that set Apple products apart in fiercely competitive markets. If successful, it would hinder our ability to create the kind of technology people expect from Apple — where hardware, software, and services intersect.”

“It would also set a dangerous precedent, empowering government to take a heavy hand in designing people’s technology,” the statement continues. “We believe this lawsuit is wrong on the facts and the law, and we will vigorously defend against it.”

Stay tuned to see what happens with the tech giant.

Do you think Apple might change its tactics and procedures?

Who’s winning the latino votes this elections?

Did the VP go to Puerto Rico for vacation, enjoying the wilderness in the Yunque Forest and sunbathing in Flamenco Beach?

Many of us would love to go on vacation there, but Kamala went on “official business”.

This is one of many steps taken after Biden launched a campaign to target “latino voters”, with the general elections in November getting closer by the day.

Kamala Harris visited San Juan, Puerto Rico to showcase Biden administration’s support for the island’s recovery. However, her visit highlighted Democratic missteps. She visited an area where many lack land titles, rendering them ineligible for FEMA(Federal Emergency Management Agency) aid. Homes there, built on public wetlands after Hurricane Hugo, are ineligible for HUD funds due to FEMA flood maps.

Her visit was somewhat bittersweet,“We find her presence disrespectful,” said Joselyn Velázquez, protest spokeswoman, as a group around her waved Palestinian flags.

Nearby, one demonstrator stood on a U.S. flag while others gathered additional U.S. flags and set them on fire.

“She is not welcome here,” said one protester.

After visiting the home in Canovanas, Harris stopped by a community center in San Juan where a handful of protesters gathered, yelling, “Yankee, go home!” as supporters chanted, “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” One protester held a sign that said “Kamala Harris war criminal.”

From her visit to PR it goes to show that latinos also play a huge role in the US elections.

Be well informed before you vote!
